Bazzill Basic App: A Review

Image
I am a traditional scrapbooker, but digital does have its advantages. I am also an iPhone user and the apps available cover a wide range of interests and uses. There aren't too many for scrapbooking but I'd like to mention this one: Bazzill Basics Paper. Most scrapbookers and cardmakers know the name. They are most known for their wide range of cardstock colors and textures, but they also offer color coordinated embellishments. But how often do you find it difficult to pick out the perfect cardstock that matches the colors in your subject photos? Well, now there's an app for that... Bazzill Basics Paper's app. Not only does it give you a choice of looking up cardstock by name, color, or color family but it has two extra nice features: matchmaker and colormatch. Matchmaker is a list of popular companys, like Fancy Pants or Crate Paper, and their collections with a list of color matched Bazzill Basic cardstock. No more guessing what color matches... just look i

SCS Tutorial - Goosebumps!

Image
Every week I look forward to my Split Coast Stampers Weekly Inkling email.  This week the tutorial uses a product I have never heard of: Goosebumps.  Goosebumps is a texture spray and in this tutorial the spray is applied directly to a stamp, then applied to the paper.  The author uses ink to create a resist image, much like one would do with versamark watermark ink, clear embossing powder, and ink.  This technique seems more simple then embossed resist... but there's only one way to know: try it! Split Coast Stampers - Texture Spray Resist tutorial For those interested in trying this technique, I have found Goosebumps on www.scrapbook.com .

Color Combos

Image
Lately specific color combos will stick with me.  Sometimes they are colors I never would have put together.  Orange is one color that I normally do not use, probably because the color is anything but flattering to my fair skin complexion. But surprisingly, the unexpected will produce an amazing result! For reference, the colors listed are Close to My Heart exclusive ink colors. For an interesting color duo, try Sunflower (light/bright orange) and Hollyhock (medium/bright pink).  Here's a card I made using this combo: For a three color combo, try Autumn Terracota (deep orange), Olive (muted medium green), and Cocoa (deep brown).  Here are two cards I made using this combo:
